Mission Statement
La
Porte Meals On Wheels’ mission is to deliver meals to homebound people who
cannot adequately prepare their own meals because of illness, physical
disability, or age. By delivering their meals to them, they are able to
remain in their own homes, relatively independent. This service often
enables an earlier release from the hospital. It helps to restore and/or
maintain health with proper nutrition. It is La Porte Meals on Wheels’
policy to service clients without regard to race, religion, sex, age, or
handicaps. Any ill or disabled person certified by a physician as unable
to prepare adequate food at home may apply for this service.
In
addition to delivering meals to residents of La Porte, we also service the
following areas:

Volunteer Opportunities
Since 1974 La Porte Meals On Wheels has
been delivering hot, nutritious meals to those individuals who are homebound
because of age, illness, or disabilities.
Last year over 34,000 meals were delivered to area residents who were
unable to prepare their own meals.
Volunteer drivers (often a married couple or a couple of friends, but
many – if not most – of our routes are delivered by a single individual)
typically deliver once a week to somewhere between 8 and 12 clients, and spend
roughly an hour of their time, beginning between
It’s not for
money, it’s not for fame,
It’s not for
the personal gain,
It’s not for love
of fellow man,
It’s just to
give a helping hand.
It’s your
reward in your heart,
It’s feeling
that you’ve been a part,
of helping
others far and near.
That make you
want to VOLUNTEER.
